Chihuahua -for the first time- handled over 1.5 mn passengers throughout 2018

Regarding the passenger numbers at Chihuahua Airport, in 2019 this Terminal was the third busiest of the 13 Mexican airports that make up Grupo OMA‘s network, see below for further passenger number information.

Passenger Numbers – Chihuahua Airport

According to company figures, in 2010, Chihuahua Airport registered 828,123 passengers, then the following year there was a dip in the visitor numbers to 782,133. However, since then, the visitor numbers here continued the positive trend, until reaching 961,538 passengers in 2014, up 8.57% on 2013.

Chihuahua came close to reaching a million passengers for the first time in 2014, with 961,538

According to Grupo OMA’s annual passenger report for 2015, Chihuahua International Airport handled a total of 1,110,513 passengers, thus giving a year-on-year increase of 15.5%. From this number, 998,261 were domestic, whilst 112,252 were international visitors; these figures translate to healthy year-on-year increases of 15.1% and 19.6%, respectively.

In 2014, Chihuahua International Airport was placed #14 on the list of Mexico’s busiest airports

As far as Grupo OMA’s 13-airport network is concerned, the fact that Chihuahua broke the one-million passenger barrier for the first time means it has clearly maintained its third position again and joined both Monterrey and Culiacán to make it into the elite airports of the Republic with over a million passengers. The bad news for Chihuahua is that though the actual passenger numbers were positive, this Terminal slipped one place on Mexico’s busiest airports list for 2015, finalizing the year at #15.

In 2015, Chihuahua Airport handled over a million passengers for the first time: 1,110,513

In 2016, Chihuahua Airport upped its passenger numbers by almost 200,000 over the 2015 figure, the total for 2016 being 1,305,961 passengers. Of the aforementioned figure, 1,197,408 passengers arrived on domestic flights, meaning the above increase in passenger numbers was entirely from the domestic niche, since the international passenger numbers showed a slight dip of almost 4,000 passengers, to close the year with 108,553 international visitors having transitted the installations.

The positive results for 2016 saw Chihuahua climb 2 places on the busiest airports list to #13

In 2017, the passenger numbers increased once again at this airport to give an annual total of 1,409,579 passengers, a year-on-year increase of over 100,000; from this total, 1,298,262 passengers arrived on domestic services and the international passenger numbers returned to its positive trend to register 111,317 and thus almost reach its 2015 figure for this niche market.

In 2017, Chihuahua upped its standing on Mexico’s busiest airports list for the 2nd consecutive year, this time to #12

Chihuahua International Airport registered a global total of 1,556,770 passengers for 2018, just creeping past the 1.5-million-passenger mark to post a double digit increase of 10.4% for the period, according to an official press release from Grupo OMA. In the domestic market, Chihuahua handled 1,436,028 passengers, a year-on-year increase of 10.6%, whilst the international niche contributed with 120,742 passengers, thus upping the annual headcount here for this sector by 8.5%. These figures maintained this airport as the third most important of Grupo OMA’s airport network.

Chihuahua’s positive passenger results in 2018 saw this Terminal surpass the 1.5-million passenger figure for the first time and maintained this Terminal at #12 on Mexico’s top airports list in 2018

Throughout 2019, according to the official figures released by Grupo OMA -on Jan. 6, 2020- Chihuahua Airport handled a global total of 1,699,816 passengers to post a respectable year-on-year increase of 9.2% and maintain this Terminal as the 7th most important -regarding passenger numbers- among the 13 Mexican airports handled by this Group.

Chihuahua’s global passenger count in 2019 registered over 143,000 passengers above the previous year to give a global increase of 9.2% and registered over 1.5 mn. passengers in the domestic niche alone for the first time

From the above total, 1,565,183 passengers were registered in the domestic niche -an annual increase of exactly 9.0%- whilst the international sector at this Terminal contributed with 134,633 passenger to post a year-on-year increase of 11.5% over the Terminal’s 2018 result.
