According to the official figures released by Grupo OMA, Zacatecas Airport registered its first year with over 300,000 passengers in 2016, when a total of 332.224  passengers passed through this Terminal. Since then there have been mixed results. In 2010, the airport registered 268,577 passengers, then dipped once again to register 248,029 in 2011.

The Zacatecas Airport handled over 300,000 passengers for the first time in 2006

The Airport’s numbers recovered to reach 265,264 in 2012, then dropped again to 259,677 in 2013. However, since 2014, when the number of passengers here registered a year-on-year increase of 9.61%, this Terminal has registered consistent growth, albeit in some years being slight growth. The 2014 result meant the Airport closed the year with 284,625 passengers.

In 2014, Zacatecas handled 284,625 passengers, placing it 35th on Mexico’s busiest airports list

In 2015, Zacatecas Airport showed respectable gains on all fronts. The overall passenger figure handled throughout the year was 320,065 to register a gain of 12.5% over the 2014 figure of 284,625. Domestically, 209,915 passengers arrived on national flights to give an annual increase of 10.3%, whilst in the international sector, the airport registered 110,150 passengers, also up on 2014, in this case by a very respectable 16.7%.

Zacatecas Airport registered an overall annual passenger increase of 12.5% in 2015

For 2016, the installations once again recorded passenger growth, this time with a year-on-year increase of 7.2% to give a total of 343,136 passengers having been handled throughout the year. This figure is split into 223,166 passengers from the domestic niche, with the remaining 119.970 having arrived on international services, thus resulting in increases of around 20,000 and 10,000 respectively. Unfortunately, though this annual result was positive, Zacatecas Airport was still slipped down one position on Mexico’s busiest airports list, to position #36.

Despite a 7.2% annual increase in passengers in 2016, Zacatecas closed the year in position #36

Zacatecas registered its 5th consecutive year of growth -in 2017- to close the year with a global passenger figure of 349,453. Though the annual increase was increase less than 2%, the aforementioned figure meant the Airport was able to maintain its position as Mexico’s 36th most important airport with regard to its passenger numbers.

In 2018, the positive trend continued at Zacatecas with a global annual increase in its passenger numbers of exactly 5%

Zacatecas Airport added over 16,000 to its global headcount in 2018 -when compared with 2017- having registered 366,871 passengers for the period to post a year-on-year increase of 5%, according to an official press release from Grupo OMA. The domestic niche here recorded 229,074 passengers and the international sector added 137,797 passengers, to post annual increases of 3.6% and 7.4%, respectively.

Zacatecas posted the largest annual growth of Grupo OMA’s airport network in 2019, having handled 475,241 passengers to register a year-on-year increase of 29.5%

And finally, last year, the Zacatecas Airport registered a passenger total of 475,241 to post an annual increase of 29.5%, the largest gain in passenger numbers of the 13-airport network operated by Grupo OMA. From the aforementioned total, the domestic niche saw the largest increase having contributed with 327,830 passengers to also provide this Terminal with the largest domestic growth of the group’s Terminals at an impressive annual rate of 43.1%; for its part, the international sector here added an additional 7.0% to the previous year’s total, having closed the year with 147,411 cross-border passengers. So, certainly a good year for this Terminal.
